We're seeking a Approvals Engineer to join a business that design & manufacture advanced electronic products for a range of applications. The business are going through a significant period of growth with a 15% increase in revenue over the last 12 months and nearly doubling their headcount over the last 5 years.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be working within the engineering department on a range of design projects large and small to fulfil the company's growth strategy. Primarily you will be focussed on obtaining and maintaining CE compliance for new and existing products.

You will be expected to review new product designs from an early stage to ensure compliance requirements are met, coordinating and driving all relevant activities, especially maintaining technical files and managing the sub-contract of 3rd party test houses. You will also devise medium term strategies to cope with the ever-changing compliance landscape and deal with updates of directives and requirements.

You will liaise with all areas of the company as well as customers, suppliers and sub-contractors and you will be expected to contribute to design, process development and the culture of continuous quality improvement at all times. Occasional travel will be required.

What they are looking for:

It's most likely you will be an Electronics Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in an NPD environment and you should meet some of the criteria listed below:

  • Knowledge of CE Marking Directives and other global product compliance requirements, particularly EMC, LVD, MD, PED, RoHS.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering.
  • 5-10 years' experience in Design or New Product Development environment.
  • Electronics knowledge relevant to EMC and Electrical Safety compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, particularly written reports.
