Head of Politics
To match our aspirations to create the best and most innovative Politics Department in the country, we need an inspirational leader who can take this popular and thriving subject to an even higher level.
As Head of Politics, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and development of Politics, where you will lead on the quality assurance of educational provision by monitoring teaching and learning, observing lessons, evaluating the department’s performance and actively addressing the underperformance of pupils.
Leading by example, you will teach pupils who choose to study the subject because they find it intellectually stimulating and engaging, as well as provide guidance and support to the teachers in the department, empowering them to be innovative and to enthuse, challenge and support pupils of all ages and aptitudes.
The department prides itself on the quality of its examination results and a high number of our pupils apply for Politics-related courses. Each year pupils visit the Houses of Parliament and the Supreme Court, where they are often lucky enough to meet MPs and lobby journalists. There is a biennial trip to Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington DC, which is timed to coincide with presidential and mid-term elections.
If you are an outstanding teacher and a strong, dynamic and inspirational character with unimpeachable subject knowledge and the ability to build a rapport with pupils and inspire others we would be delighted to hear from you.
