We are a growing chemical industry focused M&A advisor, currently looking for a chemicals market consultant or analyst to join the London office. The person will be primarily focused on chemical company and industry analysis to support both business development and deal execution.
Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following skills, qualifications and experience:
1. Currently a consultant to the chemicals industry or similar who is interested and motivated to move into investment banking. Required background ideally including the following:
a) Masters degree or higher in chemistry or related discipline such as chemical engineering
b) Deep understanding of the chemical industry and major companies involved in the sector
c) Worked in chemicals consulting either in strategy or industry consulting
d) Worked across both commodity chemicals and speciality chemicals with experience of M&A and/or due diligence in the sector
e) Understanding of chemical industry modelling such as cost curves and benchmarking, regional feedstock differentials as well as production processes and technology for key chemicals
f) Experience of chemical markets and competitive dynamics and understanding of major drivers of chemical industry including C2-C4 chemicals, fertilizers and range of intermediates chemicals
g) Keen to focus on chemicals industry and strong desire to build a career in chemicals investment banking
h) Willingness to travel globally at short notice for extended periods of time
2. Level: Associate
Compensation, bonus and other benefits are commensurate with the sector and level. The salary will be in the range of £65,000 to £75,000 per annum, depending on the successful candidate’s experience. Normal working hours are weekdays, 9:00 – 17:30.
3. Duties and Responsibilities
a) Focused on supporting business development (80%) of the company. The remainder of the time would be supporting deal execution teams.
b) Prepare reports and analysis of chemical sectors to include market and competitive dynamics, cost positioning and technology reviews
c) Support business development and senior team members with chemical company, product and market analysis and insight
d) Actively participate in developing chemical share price indices and writing newsletters
e) Provide detailed chemical sub-sectors reviews highlighting potential transaction activity
f) Develop financial analysis and modelling for potential acquisitions and chemical company financial analysis
g) Evaluation and report writing of global trends in the chemical industry
h) Support Chinese team in screening companies in the Chinese and Asian markets
i) Contribute to writing of reports and presentation required during transaction execution
