Engineering Project Manager

James Heal are based in two adjoining former textile mills a short distance from Halifax, Town Centre. We Design and Manufacture Testing Instruments and reference materials predominantly for the Textile Industry. You will be joining our company at an exciting time, we have grown 10% a year for the last three years and continue to expand our global customer base, with exciting opportunities to expand into new markets.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of project plans and co-ordination of Team resources to meet the agreed milestones that link to the stage gated process. They will run team meetings, set tasks and deadlines, manage risks and be able to motivate team members to deliver the project on time, on specification and on budget. It is likely that there will be other types of “special” projects to lead occasionally.

Key accountabilities

·Managing multiple projects ensuring that priorities are aligned with the Company’s business plan

·Ensure the correct resources are allocated to the Team

·Input into the New Product Development strategy

·Lead, manage, communicate with, and develop Team Members so that they are fully motivated to achieve best performance to meet the company’s needs.

·Creation and maintenance of project plans, identify and mitigate risk

·Control over project costs

·Working with the Product Manager, the Project Manager needs to ensure that the Market Requirement Document contains all the information to create a project brief.

·Identify key user insights and USP’s

·Ensure that prototypes are fully tested for compliance also tested for reliability and end customer misuse

·Ensure that the products comply with the relevant EU Directives

·Ensure that the products comply with the Design Guidelines

The ideal candidate will have

·The ability to work independently and Collaboratively as part of a team is essential

·Willingness and commitment to provide Leadership, support and develop other Team Members.

·A commitment to Health & Safety and Quality standards and understanding of the implications in the work place.

·The ability to adopt and promote an Innovative Continuous Improvement methodology to all activities

·The ability to identify, respond to and provide solutions to both internal and external customers through a consistent Customer Focus approach

·High levels of Integrity and Professionalism

Employment & Educational Background

·The ideal candidate will ideally have a manufacturing background.

·The ideal candidate will possess a degree in an Engineering/Manufacturing related discipline or equivalent experience

·A post graduate Management qualification will be a distinct advantage

·The ideal candidate will possess an APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ).
