Women’s Council is looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join their Board
Company Description - The Women’s Council has a long history of friendship and cooperation between women of Asian countries and the UK. Originally established to help ensure women's rights in the constitutions of newly independent countries in Asia, it now focuses on improving the care of and promoting Inclusion for disabled children and their families by supporting regional training for leaders and trainers, particularly women, working in community disability programmes in Asia including Asia Pacific and The Middle East.
Job Description - Women's Charity working for disabled children and their families in Asian countries is looking for an Honorary Treasurer/Trustee. Due to requirements of the articles of association and memorandum of association, the charity is specifically looking for female applicants for this position
This is an opportunity to come into a small charity organisation of like-minded women from the UK and many Asian countries and make a sustained contribution to its ongoing development and its support of a unique regional training programme which involves close contact with our partner operating funds in Delhi and the Middle East. Key strategic challenges for the Board of Trustees are to secure the financial future of the training programme, which is playing a key role in the development of Inclusion for people with disabilities in Asia, and to recruit new and younger members of TWC.
The Honorary Treasurer/Trustee plays a key role in the Board of nine Trustees as one of five ex officio Trustees (the others being the Chaiman, 2 Vice Chairmen and Honorary Secretary). Four other Trustees are elected from the Committee.
The Honorary Treasurer will play the lead role in ensuring the probity of all financial activity and a key role in the Council's activities, including securing the financial future of TWC and the training programme in particular. Otherwise it is hoped she will play a team role in the activities.
Person Specification – Inviting applicants with skills and experience in financial management, accountancy, business management, treasury, knowledge of comprehensive systems and accounts to send in their most up to-date CVs and cover letters
Time Commitment – The successful candidate will be operating from home and also attend meetings which will generally be held in London. The Board of Trustees meets four or five times a year and the Committee the same. Trustees (who are required by the Constitution to be members are normally expected to attend Committee meetings or relevant parts thereof.
Please note that this is a voluntary position and is not remunerated, however reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
