Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

35 hours (1.0 FTE contract)


Location: Midlothian Campus

Salary: £35,644 - £37,765per annum(appointment is usually made at the first point in the two point salary scale)

We are currently seeking an engineer with experience and skills in Electrical Engineering to become a Lecturer.

The successful post holder will be required to deliver classroom theories and workshop practice subject matter within the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. The post entails the delivery of electrical power engineering subjects ranging from pre-apprentice to HND level. As a member of the teaching staff of the college, you will be responsible for the preparation of lessons; the teaching of students and the marking and assessment of their work.

The successful candidate will be required to meet the needs of progression for SFC (Scottish Funding Council) additional places content. The post holder will also take a lead role in improving Engineering and the use of VLE (Virtual Learning Environment).

Educated to degree level or equivalent in Electrical Power Engineering or in an equivalent, relevant discipline, you will have professional experience and up to date skills in Electrical Power Engineering, and will have experience of industrial systems. A formal trade qualification would be desirable, as will be significant expertise in Electronics, Robotics and Control systems, and knowledge of sustainable and new technologies.
