Job Title: Industrial Engineer

Salary: Competitive

Location: Milton Keynes

My client requires an experienced Industrial Engineer to take responsibility for the design and implementation of operational solutions and provide technical support to the International distribution facilities. This includes but not limited to the effective design and development of workflows, warehouse efficiencies, warehouse layouts and space optimisation, supply chain efficiencies, providing analytical data to assist in management decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ø To analyse and develop improvements for the Internal distribution network
  • Ø Evaluate and document operations, work area design, process flow, and work methods for improved efficiency.
  • Ø Design and prepare building layouts including: racking, conveyors, equipment, and product flow.
  • Ø Provide analysis of current technology and identify improvements in process, equipment, and/or automation.
  • Ø Perform capacity planning, provide support for staff planning, and team with management for the necessary enhancements to meet the business requirements.
  • Ø Develop capital expenditure budget and provide support for operational budget.
  • Ø Confer with management and staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • Ø Create and deliver effective presentations regarding recommended solutions and alternatives for assigned initiatives.
  • Ø Manage capital projects and ensure project completion within acceptable schedule and budget.
  • Team Contributions:

  • Ø To be a member of the Operations Management Team, attend meetings, and work as an effective supportive team member.
  • Ø Report to the team any issues arising that effect overall operational performance
  • Ø Ensure that robust communications are in place for the cascading of all necessary information to all people management and peer group, Champion open and honest communication, and foster collaborative relationships with internal teams
  • Knowledge, training and experience required

  • Ø 5+ years demonstrable experience of a previous senior management role based within a distribution environment
  • Ø Exemplary IT skills, particularly in relation to Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ø Professional qualification in Industrial Engineering
  • Ø Experience analyzing and implementing internal distribution and warehouse systems to include:
    • o Varying types of conveyor & sortation based on application
    • o Varying picking systems based on application (i.e. RF, voice, pick-to-light, etc.)
    • o Alternate storage approaches (i.e. narrow aisle, VNA, pushback, AS/RS, etc.)
  • Ø Experience managing the design, layout, and construction of an operation through successful go-live
  • Ø Knowledge of work standards, database management / reporting, and factory / process flow
  • Ø Proven team leader with good communication and interface skills
  • Ø Available to travel to domestic and international locations.
