Mechanical Design Engineer – CwmbranWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Cwmbran based client. The position is ideally suited to a strong graduate / someone with some industry experience looking for their next career progression.The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved in the full design cycle of new product development from progressing conceptual design to detail design through to component manufacture, as well as supporting the existing product portfolio to create product variants, resolve any quality issues and implement any continuous improvement opportunities.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a very stable company that is experiencing strong organic growth in a varied role that will offer “cradle to grave scope”.
Mechanical Design Engineer Main Areas of Responsibility :·Creation / modification of 3D CAD models / assemblies using PTC Creo Parametric that comply with design requirements·Creation / modification of 2D drawings specifying appropriate geometric dimensions and tolerances using Autodesk AutoCAD·Creation of product renderings and graphics using Keyshot / Adobe Photoshop·Manufacture / assemble prototypes / test·Creation / modification of product Bills of Materials including part selection / definition based on availability / cost·Liaise with manufacturing to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture·Component approval for production manufacture·Specification of packaging methods for global markets·Raise Product Change Notifications·Support the introduction of products into production·Oversee / produce work / installation instructions·Liaise with necessary internal customers·Work within ISO9001 + 14001 Quality Management systemsMechanical Design Engineer Person Specification:
Essential Education / Experience / Skills Requirements:·Degree qualified (or similar) in Mechanical Engineering / Product Design or similar technical discipline·Have experience of 3D CAD Software·Have a practical and hands-on approach with regard to prototype manufacture / assembly and test
Desirable Education / Experience / Skills Requirements:·Have experience of 2D Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing·Have an understanding of various materials and processes including (but not limited to): injection moulding, die casting, CNC, metal fabrication, additive manufacturing (3D printing) etc.·Have an understanding of best design practices i.e. Design for Manufacture; Design for Assembly, etc.
