Role purpose:

This new and varied role will support the Senior AML Counsel and Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance in the delivery of a robust risk based AML programme. This includes supporting the implementation of all proactive and reactive activities required to ensure that the business has a robust and fit for purpose anti-money laundering compliance programme which demonstrates effective and transparent management of the risk within local markets and compliance with all relevant legislation and international standards. The role is a key part of the second level of defence in the Vodafone Group Compliance programme.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Risk Assessment - Conduct and document initial and ongoing risk assessments across the M-Pesa business with respect to money laundering risk including preparing and reporting a summary of key money laundering-related risks.

  • Developing compliance programme - Ensure the compliance programme addresses Group Policy and regulatory requirements. as well as future developments within the AML and TF space, both at a national and international level, and key AML risks identified in the risk assessment.

  • Prepare an action plan to implement each element of the programme.

  • Due diligence - Interact with Supply Chain management and other parts of the business conducting procurement activity to ensure adequate due diligence procedures are in place and providing guidance and support to implement key controls for existing and new suppliers. Ensure adequate responses are prepared and provided to due diligence requests.

  • Training and awareness - Design and ensure delivery of training programmes to relevant groups of employees, including supporting materials.

  • Support the training manager on the delivery of AML initiatives as and when required.

  • Keep the AML community up to date with new developments and best practices

  • Monitoring and reporting - Undertake regular 2nd line assessments (including in market) of current compliance status and establish monitoring and review mechanisms to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

  • To collate relevant KPI’s and regularly report to Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance and other senior managers

Apply if you have:

  • Understanding of regulation, risk management, governance and control systems

  • Experience and knowledge of financial services preferred

  • Relevant 2nd line compliance activity experience on AML or similar

  • Excellent analytical, written and communication skills, including Microsoft Office

  • International experience and multicultural sensitivity

  • A willingness to learn, positive outlook, and an appetite to succeed.

We’re happy if you are:

  • ACAMS certified, ICA diploma AML qualification, or similar relevant AML qualification preferred

  • Qualified as a minimum to degree level
