Business Project Accountant
Grafton Banks Finance is currently recruiting for a Business Project Accountant for a large, expanding global organisation with offices in Epsom, Surrey. This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious AIM listed Group where you shall work on both Group Finance and Division Finance projects. The role is primarily project based; given this, the responsibilities and areas you’ll work in will evolve over time depending on the needs of the Group. The Group elements will include analysis of the year end results to support the external reporting and adhoc modelling of scenarios to assist with Exec level decisions.
The key focus for the Division aspect this year will be working directly with the various newly acquired companies in the UK and across Europe to improve the financial reporting to empower management to better manage financial risks. Further, by working directly with the consultants, you’ll learn of their KPI and data requirements and develop reports to enable them to track their projects more effectively and efficiently which are anticipated to result in an improvement in the division profitability. You shall develop the reports to provide the data taking into consideration of the needs of the consultants and support the consultants directly with embedding the use of the information.
You will also work closely with the local accountants to support them in the preparation and ensure the results are accurate and in line with Head Office accounting policies. In the medium term there will be a transition of an ERP system (across various locations) and you shall be involved in implementation of this to optimise the system for the business.
Reporting to the Finance Director, this full time role is suited to a candidate who has experience of working in a fast paced environment, will be constantly striving to deliver finance support to a high standard of accuracy and be able to provide evidence of seeking improvements in all aspects of the finance environment. Due to the need to work closely with the consultants, the role involves travel to the various UK offices in addition to the US and continental Europe.
This role is to support the Finance Director and the Division Finance Managers with a variety of projects that shall develop the financial reporting and finance processes within the Group including:
Developing the financial reporting for the newly acquired companies to increase the management of financial risks (such as credit exposure) and improve profitability
Embed the reporting in the new companies engaging with the consultants to support them with the transition
Identify improvements in the finance process for project accounting and implement these changes, involving and influencing key stakeholders
Review month end results to ensure accuracy and in line with Group accounting policies
Understand the pricing models used by the Group and identify opportunities for enhancement of profitability
You will then go on to manage various other business projects longer term as the business continues with its growth plans. You will need to possess experience of finance projects in the past and be technically astute in order to apply. Up to 50% of the time will require travel so you will also get to see the world!
