Job Title - Software Trainer
Salary -
up to £25k + car, laptop, phone and excellent benefits
- Brighouse, West Yorkshire

The Software Trainer is responsible for delivering high quality training on our software platforms and systems to both colleagues and clients. The objective of the role is to further understanding and knowledge of technology and systems, and how they can be effectively used to improve productivity and efficiency. The specifics and content of the training will be agreed under the direction of the Group IT Director. Training sessions will be conducted over the telephone or webinar, or face-to-face internally and externally. A key responsibility of this role is the design, delivery and evaluation of training courses for bespoke and proprietary software.
This role also has a requirement for documentation to be created and maintained relating to systems and software. On occasions, and also to solidify understanding, the Software Trainer will be expected to provide and undertake some software support duties. It is expected that the trainer will travel extensively throughout the UK to deliver the aforementioned training.
The position will involve the following areas of responsibility:


  • Assessing individual or group training needs
  • The design, delivery and evaluation of training courses for bespoke and proprietary software
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations, written documentation and release notes
  • To provide a high quality training package to clients and colleagues
  • Open-courses to be held at company or client sites
  • To create and organise bespoke training plans and schedules
  • Train new personnel and clients (both on and off site) in the use of our software and systems
  • Advocate and advise use, through training, of new systems or processes
  • Become a product expert and help internal departments or clients with areas where they have a lack of knowledge


  • 1st line technical support for internal and external customers, IT services and infrastructure under the supervision of the Senior Support Engineer
  • Resolving incidents, queries and diagnosing faults or problems within a timely manner
  • Respond to user queries and ensure responses by the team are timely and accurate (in accordance with SLA targets) via phone, help desk and remote sessions
  • Provide notice of service affecting issues and relevant reasons why service levels may not be attainable
  • Taking ownership and responsibility for individual Help Desk ticket resolutions
  • Assist the Senior Support Engineer whenever required
  • Escalation of irresolvable or critical issues appropriately and with urgency
  • Work independently as necessary on client sites


  • Update and maintain course/training materials, blogs/wikis, help manuals and documentation
  • Assist with company administration when needed
  • Creating and maintaining documentation including FAQs and knowledgebase articles
  • Write or update reports detailing system amendments or configurations

Personal characteristics and skills

  • Good verbal and written English skills are required
  • Excellent communication skills, for example personable and approachable personality
  • Proven technical knowledge with understanding and extensive use of software
  • Client and commercially aware
  • Excellent problem solving ability and diagnostic skills
  • Good organisation, task prioritisation and time management skills
  • Understands the importance of maintaining high standards
  • Be proactive and a 'self-starter’ who demonstrates a willingness to help in any areas that require their attention
  • Be a good 'team player’ and be able to adapt to varying situations
  • Be an advocate of new technologies and solutions


  • 2+ years of working as a software trainer or working in a technical support role
  • Good previous knowledge of software platforms for business use
  • Previous experience of creating and developing training courses
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver complex software to an audience of differing skill levels
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite


  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at A*-C or above
  • A-Levels or equivalent are advantageous along with any technical IT qualifications
