Mechanical Engineer/Layout Engineer

Reports to:
Electrical Mechanical Team Leader / Engineering Manager

My Client is the global market leader in baggage handling systems for airports, and sorting systems for parcel and postal services. A Mechanical Engineer is required to join the engineering team in the UK London Office. The UK engineering team works as an integrated part of the World Wide Engineering team consisting of over 800 engineers from all automated handling disciplines.

The engineer joining the UK team will have the opportunity and potential to join a wide and diverse range of projects, we are looking for an Engineer with the passion and willingness to engineer and develop designs for projects, the ability to follow challenging standards and overall to add value to our customers at home and abroad.


Through the role as a Mechanical Engineer you have or will gain an understanding in the following:
o Ensure that the mechanical system design is engineered following the relevant safety standards and CDM regulations (Perform detailed Risk Assessments etc.).
o Ensure that a detailed engineered system design can be manufactured within the available budget.
o Understand and Support Mechanical activity split-up and engineering planning.
o Protect interest of client in dealings with customer, suppliers and sub-contractors.
o Coordination of third party equipment supply and integration.
o Deliver Project related Layout packages, using AutoCAD/ESoT etc.
o File and Data Management

Degree or equivalent level candidate with a relevant qualification in an engineering or relevant discipline.

The successful candidate will be :
A strong team player
Good knowledge of design standards and safety requirements, working knowledge of the Machinery directive preferred.
Willing to work in a multi-discipline environment (Electrical/Mechanical/Software/Safety)
A lateral thinker with a wide depth of field (able to see the big picture)
A structured individual with open approach to design and problem solving
Precise and accurate with the ability to follow instruction and processes
Flexible in working hours and location
