About the role:

As the Senior Radiographer you will provide an efficient and professional radiographic service, maintaining a high standard of patient care. Participate in service activity within all specialized areas. You’ll be involved in staff training and maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients. You will develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.


- Perform General and Specialized Imaging procedures according to established regulations
- Undertake general and specialized radiographic procedures to maintain the set radiographic standards in accordance with protocols and procedures
- Assist in the organization and participate in the day to day running of the radiographic areas
- Assess and adapt techniques to ensure a quality image is delivered at all times, seeking advice when required
- Use the equipment and accessories correctly, reporting any faults
- Be conversant with the computer systems and ensure that accurate records are entered and maintained
- Participate in Governance programs including regular auditing and quality control
- Comprehend and adhere to all Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
- Provision of clinical information to the patient whilst interpreting, negotiating and adapting the procedure as applicable to that patient
- Participate in IV injections (training provided as required)
- Observe the “Code of Practice for the use of Ionizing Radiations” and the IR(ME)R regulations
- Document, and report any adverse incident or near miss on the reporting system (Sentinel)
- Maintain up-to date risk assessments
- Assist with patient bookings, vetting and administrative duties where necessary
- Review and comment on continuing appropriateness of imaging protocols
- Adapt and quickly respond to changes in service, patients or business needs
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their career prior to, during and after an examination
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and radiologists to ensure the smooth running of the service
- Ensure that enquiries are dealt with promptly and efficiently
- Keep accurate documentation and patient records
- Be familiar with the RIS departmental system and to ensure all examinations have been entered onto the system and post entered
- Assist in the induction, training, development and acting as role models for new staff, HCA’s and agency radiographers

About you:

- Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc equivalent
- Demonstrate good technical knowledge and continue to develop it
- Have a flexible approach to workload
- Operate VDU equipment in both Image acquisition and data management
- Training and development of self and others including ability to maintain up to date CPD
- Suitable post-graduate experience
- Experience in CT and MRI scanning
- Experience in administering IV Contrast
- Knowledge of Patient Management IT systems
- Knowledge of IRME(R) regulations
- GE & Phillips scanner experience
- State Registration with the Health Professions Council
- Cardiac MRI, Cardiac CT and CT interventional experience.
- CoR approved injection qualification
- Experience in Private Healthcare would be preferred
