Job Title: Production Engineer

What is the purpose of the job?
To be responsible for developing and maintaining cost-effective reliable processes in order to produce components to the required specification and H&S requirements.

To support the management team by providing technical support to meet production targets and improve productivity.

Key tasks for position holder:
• To maintain up to date and expert knowledge of machining processes, fixturing and tooling, and to recommend their application as appropriate.

Manufacturing Processes:
• To liase with other functions to ensure that the introduction of new or revised manufactured parts are planned thoroughly to ensure the correct quality and that production targets are achieved.
• To establish, standardise and maintain manufacturing processes for components and assemblies using CNC programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet H&S, Quality and Productivity requirements.

• To be available and communicate proactively with factory interfaces
• To be pro-active in seeking feedback and promoting opportunities to identify possible improvements to the manufacturing processes, this includes the management of tools, fixturing, lifting equipment, programs and routings in order to improve productivity.

• To ensure the Non-Conformance and Corrective Action processes are managed according to procedures.
• To follow, maintain and suggest improvements according to local procedures.

• To lead and support Engineering and Lean Six Sigma Projects according to PROMAL methodology.

• To complete H&S, environmental and quality assessments as per agreed schedule.

What decisions can the position holder make without reference to manager?
• New and changed production routings and methods.
• Purchase of consumable tooling as per local purchasing procedures.

37.5-hour week, Dayshift
• Hours of work Mon - Thurs 0730 – 1615, Fri – 0730 – 1200
• Salary – for a senior person with both CNC and project management working knowledge 40k – 45k
• Preferably degree level
• 33 days holiday which includes Bank Holidays per annum
• We close between Christmas and the New Year and the week after the Spring Bank holiday you have to take some annual leave to cover these periods – note Maintenance normally work this week
