What you will do:
As an installation and maintenance technician you will be part of the UK&I Customer Engineering team where you will be the front-line face for our customers so it is key that you present a professional, confident outlook at all times. Ideally based at our Belfast depot the position has flexibility to support a home-based candidate. You will be part of an existing technician team but will be the only maintenance technician covering a diverse customer base across the whole of Ireland. Your work will be planned by a team in Worcester England with work activities being communicated daily through a company software platform loaded onto a windows based tablet. Tablet operation requires a level of IT literacy and a good understanding of Microsoft Office programs would be beneficial. Supporting the whole of Ireland will require an amount of driving and the scheduling team will have the intention of strategically coordinating planned maintenance campaign work in areas which will involve some overnight stays to reduce the amount of travel required. Reactive maintenance may require travel and possibly overnight stay at short notice. Larger installations, when they occur will be forward planned and may also need overnight stays.
You will be working mainly at customer sites from a fully stocked company supplied medium sized service van which has a bespoke racking system holding parts, hand and power tools and specialist installation and test equipment to allow you to complete your jobs.

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician role would be:
• To install and maintain:
o Cryogenic storage vessels ranging from a few hundred to several thousand liters typically holding liquid nitrogen, argon, oxygen and also liquid carbon dioxide which will connect to systems typically incorporating:
 Pipelines.
 Ambient and electrical vaporizers.
 Pressure, flow, level and temperature control instrumentation.
o Gas cylinders and cylinder packs as backups and primary supply.
o Any other allied equipment supplied and / or maintained by Air Products Customer Engineering such as:
 Small and large-scale generators.
 Leisure soft drink and beer dispense equipment.
 Food packaging and processing machines.
 Biomedical storage freezers and control systems.
 Cryo chambers/pods and cryo saunas.

You will also provide an element of support to our road tank fleet distribution team carrying out running repairs on the cryogenic side of the road tankers and depot storage tanks (valves, regulators and pipework).
When you are up-to-speed, your position will also support our commercial team and contractors by carrying out site surveys and providing technical assistance and advice for new and existing customers.

What you should ideally have:
- Preferably one of the following (or equivalent) academic qualifications:
o Level 3 NVQ (RQF / FHEQ) qualification in an Electromechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Maintenance discipline.
o BTEC National Diploma in an Electromechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Maintenance discipline.
o Advanced level of apprenticeship in an Electromechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Maintenance discipline.
- We will also consider candidates who have relevant mechanical or electrical industrial gases, oil, petrochemical, brewing, water treatment or equivalent process / plant industry experience along with:
o Level 2 NVQ (RQF / FHEQ) qualification or equivalent in an Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical/Maintenance discipline.
o BTEC award, certificate and diploma level 2 or equivalent in an Electromechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Maintenance discipline.
- Experience of working to written schemes of examination to carry out PSSR inspections on pressure systems.
o Having current or previous PSSR inspector status would be highly advantageous.
- Industrial installation and maintenance experience involving at least two of the following:
o Pipework, regulators and valves.
o Electrical instrumentation, systems and control.
o Compressed air systems.
o Energy systems.
o Pneumatics.

o Drinks dispense gas systems.
o Water treatment plants.
o Brewing processes and equipment.
o Medical gas systems.
o Fitting and metal fabrication.
o Welding, Brazing.
o Vacuum technology.
o Manufacturing and production machinery.
- A strong ability to work on your own initiative allowing you to problem solve and diagnose equipment and system faults relating to pressure and flow.
- Capacity to read layout drawings and system schematics (P&ID’s).
- A good driving record.
- A readiness to travel across Ireland to complete your work.
- Confidence and interpersonal skills when dealing with customers.
- Ability to always work with integrity and maintain high standards.

We will provide a bespoke training program for the Maintenance Technician role which is typically run from our CryoEase centre of excellence offices in Worcester. This will therefore require time away from home in the first months of training but for the right candidate this training program is fully flexible with senior technicians and management also travelling to Ireland to provide field training after initial inductions at Worcester. Training is then ongoing with a computer based ‘Learning Solutions Online’ program and external training where required.
Normal working hours are ~40 per week Monday to Friday, but flexibility is important as to meet the needs of the business this role may involve working outside normal hours (rarely on weekends unless supporting occasional customer shutdowns for maintenance) where overtime rates are paid.
