Job Title: Management Accountant
Reports to: Financial Controller


To lead on the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes, and on the provision of management information to SMT and all budget holders on a monthly and ad hoc basis for a group with an annual turnover of circa £10m.


The role will be:
• Full Time. Hours will be 9 to 5 (Friday 9-4), with the potential for such other hours as may be required to fulfil the duties of the role.
• It will be based at the headquarters in Egham, UK.
• It will be a salaried position in the region of £30,000 to £35,000 dependent on experience.

• AAT qualified and/or ACCA/CIMA part-qualified (preferably Finalist)
• Active studier preferred
• Minimum two years experience of preparing monthly management accounts
• Experience in a financial business partnering role
• Experience of undertaking complex analysis for management information purposes
• Experience of improving systems and processes in order to provide more complete and timely management information
• A customer focussed attitude to providing financial information to SMT and budget holders to help the organisation meet its corporate objectives
• Good understanding of business strategy
• Commercially minded with a ‘lets make it better’ attititude
• Intermediate to advanced user of Excel
• Good working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts or smiliar accounting packages
• Ability to prioritise work in a demanding environment, working quickly and efficiently
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to present complex financial matters in understandable formats to non-finance colleagues
• Must be able to work on own initiative and be confident to make decisions or refer as necessary
• Time management skills
• Attention to detail
• Experience of working within an events company is desirable


Main duties of the role:
• To manage the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process
• To produce monthly management accounts including P/L, SOFP, cashflow forecast for SMT (and quarterly for the Board)
• To produce monthly variance analysis reports for for all budget holders
• To produce weekly financial reports for SMT
• To produce ad-hoc analysis to support business opportunities
• To work with the Financial Controller to develop KPI’s for inclusion in the SMT & Board management accounts
• To work with the Financial Controller to develop a financial strategy that underpins the overall business strategy
• To work with the Financial Controller to drive process and systems improvement across both the finance department and the business as a whole
• To develop excellent working relationships with SMT and budget holders with the aim of making financial more accessible
• To meet regularly with budget holders in order to support them in managing their budgets and acheiving their targets
• To investigate and report any significant budget variances arising from these meetings with budget holders
• To identify corrections in the monthly accounts and prepare journal vouchers as part of month end close
• To prepare journal vouchers for any other corrections or adjustments necessary to ensure that the monthly accounts are complete and accurate
• Record and secure the financial and physical assets including maintenance of our fixed asset register
• To record and maintain accounting procedures documentation
• To prepare simple financial statements for other branches
• To submit VAT returns on behalf of these associations
• To provide assistance in year end audits
• To monitor the performance of the Investment Fund and prepare performance reports for the Trustees
• To represent the Finance team in the absence of the Financial Controller
• To support the Financial Controller with delivery of ad hoc projects when needed


• Daily contact with other members of the Finance team and other members of staff, particularly budget holders
• Frequent contact with the Senior Management Team
• Contact with the Board and Council members
