My client are one of the largest independent suppliers of machinery to the Food and Pharmaceutical industries.

They are currently recruiting for a sales & service engineer to develop its customer base in the south the office and workshop now located in Luton.

The main purpose of the operation is to grow the southern customer base by providing local customer service as well as manufacturing electrical control panels used within the company’s products. This is a varied role and would suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a small
team across different aspects of the business.

Job Purpose:
As a Sales / Service Engineer you will be responsible for promoting and generating new business while providing a high level of Customer Service. This will include all aspects of service work, including breakdown repairs, commissioning, upgrades, equipment calibrations and general servicing / maintenance work. Whilst the majority of activity will be carried out at our customer’s sites, you will be expected to carryout work in our Luton facility. All work will need to be completed to a high quality standard and to the current good practises. As part of this you will also be required to undertake all aspects of the clients activity as business needs dictate.

Key Duties:
• Proactively promote the businesses services and products to new customers.
• To conduct sales visits to specify and provide customer quotations.
• To carry out on customer site repairs, upgrades, commissioning, service and calibration of customer's inspection equipment to the stated processes and procedures.
• Handle on site customer queries in a fair and courteous manner.
• Must be prepared to adapt to all types of environments and comply with local client's health and safety regulations.
• Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and on a timely basis in accordance with the company procedures.
• Expected to co-operate by working overtime as and when required.
• To be part of the on-call standby rota system
• Must be prepared to learn a diverse set of products from differing brands and continually improve your product knowledge.

• Good Technical Electrical / Electronics skills
• Minimum ONC or similar qualification in electromechanical / electrical engineering
• Ideally experience in a field service role and familiar with all aspects of customer service
including commissioning, repairs, and servicing.
• PLC programming and knowledge of PC hardware an advantage
• Good methodical approach to problem solving
• Full current UK driving licence
• Good communication skills
• IT Literate, Windows, Excel, etc.
• Attention to detail is essential
• Ability to work independently.
• Track-record of success in a similar role.
• Knowledge of the food manufacturing industry is desirable

Salary: In the region of £25,500pa + Overtime dependent upon experience
Overtime: Weekdays + Saturday rate @ 1.5 / Sunday rate @ 2.0. The salary will rise to £26,500 after 6 months and £27,500 after year 1.

Company Vehicle: A company Van is provided for business use and insignificant private use.
