KS2 Teacher – Newly Qualified Primary Teacher – Supportive Birmingham School – Starts September

If you’re currently training to be a Primary Teacher and are looking for a challenging but supportive school to complete your all-important NQT year then please read on.

Finding a school that is going to give you the encouragement, support and development to ensure a safe path to QTS isn’t as easy as some NQTs think. Not all schools support trainee teachers in the same way.

As a Primary NQT your dedication and investment in to your year as a trainee teacher should be repaid by joining a school with a similar dedication to you and your teaching career.

The School
Based south of the city centre my client primary school is a three-form entry school with a diverse pupil base. The school faces the same challenges as any city primary but the positive manner that the school approaches these challenges is what sets it apart. The school is led by an experienced Headteacher who has transformed the school from the ordinary to being a fantastic learning environment with outstanding results.

The KS2 NQT position

The school are keen to recruit a trainee teacher in one of their Key Stage 2 classes – Most likely Year 3,4 or 5 - and are happy to consider NQTs who have studied a general primary PGCE, SCITT or School Direct. The recruited teacher will join a progressive Key Stage Department with its own leader and team of teachers. The department hold regular meetings and welcomes input from all staff including those new to the school and their teaching assistants. Your ideas as an NQT will be held in high regard. You will be expected to plan and deliver lessons of a high standard as well as utilising one of the school’s graduate TAs.

What the school will do for you
Each NQT will be assigned a mentor in school. The mentor will be an experienced teacher in the Key Stage and someone with a track record of supporting trainees. Each NQT will be placed on the school’s Foundation Programme which tracks progress throughout the year as well as providing CPD/Training sessions. Regular one-to-ones with one of the school’s Deputy Heads will allow you a voice and a chance to discuss any problems or challenges you face in the school.
If this sounds like the type of school you’d enjoy working at and think it would be the perfect place to start your full-time teaching career as a Primary Teacher then please email a copy of your CV to Patrick at Edustaff or call (Apply online only), (url removed)
