Assistant Merchandiser

Location: Manchester

Salary: £18,000 - £23,000

NJR Recruitment are currently working with a well established Wholesaler, who are now seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic individual to join their administration team in their continued development and growth.

As an Assistant Merchandiser you will be working alongside and supporting a small team of Merchandisers in the smooth running of the market as well as maximising sales opportunities and profit potential whilst minimising markdown spend. You will also have responsibility for daily figure analysis, future sales, and range planning, as well as communicating closely with the local market team in line with the critical path.


  • Analysing sales data to forecast re-orders
  • Raise purchase orders accurately and efficiently
  • Managing the delivery schedule by liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Compiling sell through reports and liaising with the Product Manager on new range plan proposal
  • Auto-replenish stock to branches to ensure optimum sales at all times taking into account seasonal peak times
  • Collating branch order quantities, ensuring they are in-line with potential sales
  • Liaising with the Stock Controller regarding stock inventory issues & queries
  • Maintaining system information
  • Provide administrative support to the team including photocopying, filing and scanning
  • Dealing with internal queries from colleagues


  • Previous experience within Supply Chain/Buying & Merchandising
  • Need to be logical, numerate, accurate & a problem solver
  • Strong administrative background
  • Supply chain knowledge is essential
  • Excellent telephone manner, and you must be polite, friendly and enthusiastic
  • Maintain strong communication links with vendors
  • Advanced Excel including VLOOKUP & Pivot tables. Macros would be an advantage but not essential
  • Must be diligent as attention to detail is key
  • Excellent knowledge and proficiency in all Microsoft Office Packages
  • Hard working and flexible with the ability to multi-task
