Position Overview

Our client is an international manufacturing business with an impressive portfolio of manufacturing sites based across the UK. They are currently seeking an experienced project engineer / manager to work within their central engineering team to provide a wide range of engineering projects across multiple manufacturing sites, in the Midlands and North of England.

The successful applicant will join the Groups specials Project Team and will provide support the manufacturing factories in the realisation of a wide range of engineering projects. Key responsibilities will be in the following function areas:

  • Project Definition and Specification
  • Management of Tendering and Bid Processes
  • Project planning, cost analysis and budget preparation
  • Preparation and presentation of capital applications
  • Contract definition and construction
  • Project Management including knowledge of CDM requirements
  • Project commissioning.
  • Typical projects will initially range from £10k through to circa £1m, however this may at times increase to circa £10-20m capital projects
  • Projects may cover the extension of buildings and facilties, through to the introduction of new manufacturing lines and machinery.

Applicants will need to possess the following:

  • Ideally a recognised degree qualification, preferably in one of the following disciplines, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, structural, Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Demonstrable experience of the planning and management of complex engineering projects, including CDM regulations
  • Highly developed literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • Experience of developing and proposing CAPEX justifications
  • A high degree of self-motivation

Desirable qualifications or areas for further training

  • Project management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of, and commitment to, working within an environment of continuous improvement
  • NEBOSH Certified
