Job Title Health & Safety Officer

Location Leicester

Salary Between £25,000 and £30,000 per annum

The Role

You will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and support on all aspects of Health & Safety, whilst being involved in the following:

  • Work closely with line managers and employees to assess risks and comply with Health & Safety at Work act.

  • Developing and delivering Health & Safety and environmental courses where needed.

  • Conducting H&S inspections and audits, site visits, writing reports and reviewing progress of corrective actions.

  • Conducting, reviewing and creating site risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and as a result of this identify where systems of working can be improved.

  • Supporting with investigations in relation to accidents, incident, dangerous occurrences and litigation claims and ensuring all necessary reports are completed.

  • Work closely with Representatives for Employee Safety (RES) on issue regarding health, safety and welfare of employees.

  • Collate relevant H&S data and statistics and compile reports and management information.

  • Monitoring and reviewing the implementation of H&S policies.

  • To create and promote a positive sustainable health, safety and environmental culture.

  • To plan, co-ordinate and implement issues and directives within the organisation to ensure safe environmental working conditions for all employees.

  • Log, monitor and investigate any environmental incidents and non-conformances and ensure major incidents are reported to senior management.

  • Working to create a sustainable framework to prevent accidents, infections, injuries and property loss due to natural causes or daily life circumstances to people, property and to the environment.

  • Ensuring all records are compliant with legislation, company procedures and contract requirements.

The Candidate

It is essential that the successful candidate will have the following:

  • Previous experience as Health & Safety practitioner, with a strong understanding of the current H&S legislation.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience within a manufacturing, engineering, heavy plant or construction environment.

  • Good understanding of best practice manufacturing processes / systems.

  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health & Safety.

  • Hold a chartered Safety & Health Practitioner Status (CMIOSH).

  • Full driving license is essential.

Client Overview

Our client is a well-established precision engineering business with a number of key customers from the motorsport, automotive and yellow goods industries. Staff can also expect 25 days holiday (plus stats.)

The Package

Between £25,000 and £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm (overtime as required).

25 days holidays + statutory days.
