Location: Slough

Responsible To: European GM/Ops Director

Responsible For: Site production operations

Our client is a leading international supplier of technology and services for remanufacturing and cleaning Diesel Particulate Filters from heavy-duty diesel vehicles such as trucks and buses as well as cars. The company has a JV operation in North America and has recently established a JV in Japan, with licences across Europe and a near-term plan to open a high-flow automated facility in the Benelux region by the start of 2019.
Job purpose
The production team is responsible for the successful, profitable and timely delivery of all remanufacturing production services to clients and individual customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the production process by ensuring the delivery of an efficient production schedule for the site that meets constantly changing and growing output targets and key performance measures.
• Continuously assess, identify opportunities for and implement improvements to the end to end production process.
• Support the development and implementation of the strategic direction of the company.
• Decide what resources are required and make sure they are available at the time and in the quantity needed, including people, equipment and materials.
• Estimate and manage budgets and costs, putting in place cost control measures as appropriate.
• Respond to any issues with or delays in production by putting in place appropriate corrective measures.
• Make sure that all orders are tracked through end to end processes, including the accurate and timely invoicing and despatch of the finished product.
• Ensure that production is cost effective and profitable.
• Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
• Prepare and maintain production reports.
• Set, monitor and record adherence to quality standards and controls, making sure problems are quickly detected and corrected.
• Ensure that health, safety and environmental guidelines are rigorously followed.
• Lead, organise and motivate a team to deliver outstanding performance.
• Review and manage individual and team performance.
• Identify and deliver training needs.
Personal Specification
• Excellent planning and organisation skills within a manufacturing based production environment, to be able to effectively run, monitor and expand the production process.
• Management skills, able to lead and motivate a team to consistently achieve outstanding performance to tight and changing deadlines.
• Strategic thinker, able to propose new ways of working to meet changing demands.
• Able to act decisively and solve people or equipment-related problems.
• ICT literate to deal with IT based programmes.
• Familiarity with operational quality control.
• Strong working knowledge of health and safety within a production environment.
• Collaborative, able to communicate well with colleagues and clients.
• Calm, logical, systematic manner.
Work experience –industry
Previous experience in a management position in an engineering based production environment is essential, most likely within one of the following industries:
• Aerospace / defence
• Automobile
• Heavy engineering
• Printing
• Textiles
