Blatchford is a world leading rehabilitation provider with clinical expertise in prosthetics, orthotics, special seating and wheelchairs. We design and manufacture the multi award-winning Endolite range of lower limb prostheses and provide clinical services to the NHS, military and patients internationally. With 128 years of innovation and expertise behind us, we produce the world’s most advanced microprocessor artificial limbs.

We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Development Engineer, to join our New Product Development team based in Basingstoke and take a proactive role in introducing new products through discovery, trial, and pre-production phases.

You will use your skills, experience and enthusiasm to design and manufacture tooling, fixtures and jigs for new product assembly. You will liaise with the project champion, post design, manufacturing engineers, logistics and QA to facilitate a smooth transition of new products into production.

You will take responsibility for:
• Supporting and maintaining tooling dedicated to securing production processes.
• Producing best practice procedures and work instructions for product assembly and testing.
• Supporting project champions in development of POP models and pre-production batches.
• Assisting in the qualification and documentation of tooling, including process controls with post design.
• Training production staff during the implementation period.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by deputising for the senior engineer when necessary.

Therefore the successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities and take the lead, to inspire others. They will have a flexible and positive working style that encourages and motivates others and be ‘’hands on’ and innovative in their approach. They will have strong attention to detail and problem solving skills with the ability to work to exacting standards.

Ideally you will be HND qualified with strong experience in a precision manufacturing environment, using CAD and CAM programming. Experience working in an R&D environment would be advantageous, although not essential. We are looking for someone who has an excellent understanding of jigs, fixtures and tooling for assembly processes that involve hydraulics and electronic controls.

This is a permanent position and the core working hours are 36.5 hours per week. In return, we offer a competitive salary package, with excellent benefits.
