IT Solution Architect

Here at The Nottingham we have heavily invested into our IT systems and are amidst a key and exciting time with a large change agenda. As a result of our growth we have lots of exciting projects and system implementations in the pipeline, and have an opportunity for a Solution Architect to join the team on a permanent basis.

This is a brand new role created to join part of a pivotal and growing team that will be integral to the changes and growth planned for the Society. You'll be responsible for creating IT application architectures and roadmaps to support The Nottingham's immediate and long term business plans and IT development project portfolio. This role will be extremely varied and you may be required to carry out hands-on software design and development activity to support technology selection, proof of concept or prototyping activity.

This is a small growing team that requires a hands-on individual who will be able to shape this role and lead change; it's a very exciting time to join The Nottingham and this role will give the successful applicant an opportunity to get involved in ongoing an upcoming projects at the Society.

The majority of our systems are "off-the-shelf applications" so you will have a strong emphasis on application and data integration and will be able to produce architectures that ensure that third party applications integrate effectively and efficiently. Note that this is not a technical infrastructure focussed role; we are looking for applicants with an application architecture or software design and development background who have a strong and clear communication style and want to join a small but growing organisation where they can really add value to drive the business and our strategy forward.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

Creating and maintaining application and data architectures
Working with the wider IT team to make recommendations on integrating data from multiple, different applications
Work closely with business analysts and users to understand business requirements and translate them effectively into solution architectures
Work closely with existing and potential software suppliers to understand implementation and integration of third party applications.
Maintenance of as-is application architecture documentation and repository, ensuring it remains up to date with current baseline

We are looking for applicants who have

A practical, working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture processes, frameworks and principles (TOGAF certification preferable)
Experience in Implementation of Data Integration / Data Quality ETL technology
Working knowledge of formal Software Development and Project Management methodologies
Experience of Application Integration / Web Services / API design and development and associated underlying technologies.
Excellent communication skills both verbally and written and the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise way to technical and non-technical audiences.
A track record of producing high quality architecture documentation using recognised, standard methods

We seek a logical thinker, a natural problem solver with an aptitude for translating business needs in to IT solutions. You will naturally have the desire to produce good quality, well documented and accurate work and able to perform in fast paced environment.

In return for your outstanding contribution to the business you will be rewarded with a competitive salary, and a generous benefits package (holidays, healthcare cashback, pension, performance related bonus etc.) as well as the opportunity to learn and progress in your role.

Please note that if your application is successful with The Nottingham you will be required to undergo background checks. All offers of employment are conditional on receipt of 3 years references and a satisfactory Financial and criminal records check
