We are looking to recruit a contract and claims manager with strong experience to assist with varied workload of contract and contentious claims/dispute resolution matters. Matters include English law and some foreign law matters.

Working under and closely with the contracts and claims practice lead, the successful candidate may be a contracts/claims experienced QS or experienced contract administrator with strong contract legal disputes bias. Alternatively, the candidate may have worked in legal practice, in-house legal department and/or have postgraduate legal qualifications (eg Masters in Construction law)

Candidate will have:
• A strong attention to detail and be able to work independently
• Need to work on new matters as well as familiar matters and adapt in fast moving situations
• Have outstanding drafting, communication, negotiation and influencing skills
• Be practical, pragmatic and flexible in their approach
• Be willing to work on projects across a broad spectrum of complexity

Experience will include:
• Construction law claims principles (concurrency, delay and disruption, cost and expense claims, Extension of time)
• Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act (HGCRA) knowledge
• Construction payment systems and payment disputes knowledge
• Contract administration
• Quantum disputes and principles
• Foreign law experience an advantage (eg Civil code jurisdictions)
• Contract clauses drafting/amendment and negotiations
• Analysis of contractual terms
• Variations/contract change experience and understanding
• Preparation of advices, letters of claim or defences
• Good awareness and previous use of different construction contract forms (NEC, IChemE, FIDIC, JCT)
• Claims experiences
• Disputes (tiered contractual and third party proceedings)
• Third party proceedings - court, arbitration, adjudication, mediation, expert determination
• Case preparation/argument formation– advancing and defending claims
• Document and evidence preparation
• Drafting witness statements
• Negotiating and finalising legal settlements
