Nuffield Health is looking to recruit a number of graduates on 12-month fixed term contracts to play a major part in a major healthcare business transformation programme in the UK. This will be a great opportunity to get experience of working on a large-scale change programme and gain some valuable skills to add to your educational success, and equip you for your next career move.

The programme is anticipated to run over a 4 year period during which the new technology and working practices will be introduced to all of our 32 UK hospitals. Therefore, whilst initial contracts are being offered for 12 months, there will be wider opportunities for those who show the right aptitude and attitude.

Nuffield Health has embarked on a multi-million-pound business transformation programme. A key part of the programme is the implementation of a state-of-the-art Electronic Patient Record system, which will transform our hospitals, and put Nuffield Health at the leading edge of healthcare informatics. The programme is being run from our office in central Bristol (6 mins walk from Temple Meads station), and the first hospital to go-live was the Nuffield Chesterfield Hospital in Clifton, Bristol. The next pilot sites we are looking to deploy the system to are Cardiff and Leeds, though continuing to run most activities from our Bristol office.

The role will flex as the programme moves from pilot into full-scale deployment, and would include supporting the programme team in a variety of activities including:

Software testing:

  • writing and executing test scripts (training will be provided)
  • Data manipulation
  • Preparing training materials, tips & tricks sheets etc. ahead of go-live, assisting with 1-2-1 and classroom training
  • Providing end-user support "on the ground" when the system goes live and behind the scenes post-go-live

What we need from you:

  • Flexibility - This is a challenging programme, which is critical to the long-term success of the organisation. You will need to adapt and learn quickly
  • Strong attention to detail - When testing, the ability to detect small irregularities is essential
  • Problem solving - A structured approach to problem solving is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills - You will be working as part of a large team, and interacting directly with clinical and operational staff across the organisation. This will require a patient and approachable demeanour, as you will need to engage with a wide range of users, appreciate their ways of working and the challenges associated with change
  • Keen Interest in Devices - The system will be used across a number of devices which will need to be thoroughly tested, and an interest in different types of devices is key
  • Degree - such as a technical degree (Engineering, computer science, maths, sciences) however will consider candidates with other degrees
