Pay: £15,000 PA

Qualified Schools are currently seeking an enthusiastic and responsible graduate for this Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship for a Multi Academy Trust based in West London.

The position will be full time (37.5 hours per week) with on-the-job training, and you will receive a qualification after 18 months (Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard Level 3 which includes AAT).

Role profile

As an Assistant Accountant you will be required to assist the Group Financial Controller and other Finance staff with all aspects of the development and effective operation of the finance function within the School.

Main duties and responsibilities

* processing of all expenses, invoices or other expenditure recording including credit and other charge card statements. This includes managing the approval process for all invoices and filing.
* preparation of BACS payments for authorisation by the Group Financial Controller.
* preparation of the monthly reconciliation of the school’s charge card
* using the school’s online payments system, ParentPay, to monitor outstanding lunch monies, or other amounts owing and chase parents in arrears.
* responding to parents’ queries regarding payments in relation to lunches, trips, snack money cards and Free School Meal eligibility.
* assisting with ParentPay, including assigning pupils to payment items, processing adjustments, archiving items and other general maintenance.
* recording and banking of any cheque or cash income.
* keep a record of all incomings and outgoings into petty cash and ensure the cash balance reconciles to supporting documentation.
* dealing with suppliers regarding queries on invoices, requesting credit notes where appropriate.
* undertaking any clerical and general office duties, including filing, duplicating, photocopying, maintenance of both paper and electronic filing and record systems and other clerical support to assist in the efficient operation of the school.
* generally assisting the Group Financial Controller or other Trust staff in the administrative arrangements of school events and the provision of efficient support services to the Headteacher, Governors and teaching staff of the school.
* undertaking other appropriate duties at the request of the Headteacher, Governors, teaching staff or support staff management of the school.

Qualifications and Experience


* A Graduate
* 5 GCSEs (at Grade C or above), or equivalent, including Maths and English.
* Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.


* Previous experience of working in a financial administrative role.
* Working knowledge of Sage 50 would be an advantage.
* Experience of setting up spreadsheets.
* Experience of working to deadlines and prioritising workloads.
