Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of a well established manufacturing company in the Blackburn area. Please read through the below criteria and apply if you feel you have the desired experience.

Main Purpose of Job:

• Responsible for the efficient and effective control of tool changing.

• Supporting maintenance with responsive repairs

• Front line supervision of operators.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Always prioritise work to the business demand

• Deal with tool changes, tool setting and tool cleaning efficiently. Ensuring, where possible, all departments are operating at 100%

• Ensure all first offs and checks are completed and adhering to the Quality Standard set

• Ensure all operators are working in an efficient manner

• Ensure all materials are available for production

• To organise and take control of the Shift in the absence of the Shift Manager

• To provide cover, including shift changes, for holidays and sickness

• First line response / trouble shooting problem products / production runs

• Inform Maintenance/Technical in regards to any stoppages

• Always work to the Quality Standard required

• To maintain good discipline at all times

• Work in accordance with Health and Safety at all times

• Ensuring good housekeeping practices are maintained

• Ensure 5s procedures and practices are being followed

• Provide support to all improvement projects

• Mentoring and guidance of new operators / processes

Essential Skills / Attributes:

• Time served engineer

• Experience of hydraulic machinery

• Experience of pneumatic machinery

• Ability to read and interpret engineering / technical drawings

• Computer skills, including EXCEL and email

• Ability to command trust and respect from all levels of staff

• Approachable, supportive and tenacious

• Ability to maintain a professional attitude with staff at all levels

• A team player

• Ability to work under own initiative

Desirable Skills / Attributes:

• Previous experience of similar mechanical engineering role(s)

• Previous supervisory experience preferred

• Electrical experience

• Rubber processing experience

• Experience of continuous improvement activities

• Experience of T.P.M. activities

Hours are 6-2 / 2-10 Mon to Thur and 6-1 /1-8 on Friday’s

Hols are 33 days including Bank Hols

Salary £27,000 - £28,000
