This challenging and exciting opportunity, requires an individual with a demonstrable estimating, bidding and tendering experience within the LV and HV power distribution arena.

Our client is seeking to appoint a talented and motivated Electrical Engineer with experience in Power Distribution across all sectors. The role will be to provide accurate and efficient cost estimates for projects within the UK and Ireland.

Your main responsibilities will be to produce tenders, estimates and quotations associated with all aspects of HV projects, contracts and schemes. This will include co-ordinating with the Client to carry out high level designs in order to produce an engineering solution, ensuring that electrical design and engineering quotations meet statutory legislations, regulations and client specifications, and produce and submit accurate quotations with associated evaluation data for all tenders

The Role

• The primary responsibility is to develop accurate and timely electrical estimates and submit competitive bids and proposals for the company’s client base
• Analyse and interpret detailed client requests, drawings and specifications
• Determine and price value engineered alternatives to plans and specifications
• Utilising standard principles submit bespoke, proposals / bids to clients
• Attend pre and post tender bid meetings with clients and their representatives
• Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner
• Assist and support the team to meet all financial targets
• Identify and develop new clients, suppliers and contractors to improve safety, performance and profitability

The Person

• Able to identify the requirements of all assigned projects and accurately prepare quotations considering all costs associated with the delivery of works
• Able to provide detailed hand over project files to the Project Management Team to allow for successful delivery
• Able to correspond and negotiate with clients, suppliers, contractors and colleagues
• Able to manage situations when workload presents conflicting demands on time availability, demonstrating an ability to effectively prioritise and schedule
• Able to monitor progress and implement controls to ensure targets are achieved
• Can develop and select effective solutions to problems and manage risks
• Can communicate facts, ideas and proposals to others in an effective and persuasive manner
• Apply HSE and Welfare policies and procedures
• Work with others to develop knowledge and skills throughout the team
• Deliver efficient and effective customer service
• Possess a sound knowledge of LV and HV distribution networks and protection systems
• HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
• Possess commercial awareness and planning skills to ensure tender timescales are achieved
