Our clients’ Business Restructuring and Insolvency (BRI) practice is well placed to advise corporates and their stakeholders on their options. Their team comprises of highly experienced lawyers based in the financial hubs of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America, and South America. We are supported on every transaction by leading individuals from across the firm in key areas such as capital markets, litigation, real estate, employment, intellectual property, and pensions.

They advise a wide variety of stakeholders in restructuring and insolvency cases, including distressed borrowers; senior, junior, and subordinated debt providers; shareholders; directors; trustees; and suppliers to a distressed borrower. They also act for investors looking to buy into a distressed situation at either the debt or equity level. Their team has great experience in all formal insolvency procedures, whether used as part of a work-out or as an exit solution for a distressed corporate.

Over the past 2 years, the practice has had major roles in almost every high profile restructuring and insolvency case.


Technical Ability:

Understanding of legal principles of own practice area, along with a working knowledge of other practice areas.

Has project management responsibility, ensuring timely delivery to high quality standards.

Stays aware of legal developments affecting any specialist areas and regularly attends appropriate training sessions.

Client Focus:

Has good working relationships with clients.

Has a good understanding of client, the sector and the associated risks and opportunities.

Actively works to develop and strengthen new client relationships

Team Work & Interpersonal Skills:

Acts as a source of advice to others, sharing knowledge and expertise.

Candidate Profile

Candidates must have business restructuring experience, ideally with knowledge of debt finance documents. We are looking for an associate with 2-4 PQE (or equivalent experience). Candidates should be at a leading City or US firm. It is essential that the candidate has a strong academic background (minimum 2.1 degree) with excellent written communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will also have outstanding technical skills, together with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work well in a team.
