Head of Digital

Our client is the largest private pension scheme in the UK and in the top 50 globally, with assets of approximately £60 billion (as at March 2017). As the principal pension scheme for universities and other higher education institutions in the UK, it now has more than 390,000 members across more than 350 employers responsible for the management and administration of the pension scheme and its investments.

The role

Working collaboratively with business leaders this role is responsible for the evolving definition of the business's digital strategy and leading the delivery of digital initiatives, including the implementation of the Digital Platform Programme to provide best-in-class digital experiences.

Key responsibilities

* Strategy, planning and delivery accountability, aligning and leading a multi-partner / cross-functional capability using agile approaches
* Owns the realisation of the digital customer experience, working closely with product owners to drive and optimise great customer experiences
* Benefit realisation – identifying KPI’s to report operational improvements, efficiencies and user satisfaction levels
* Coach and drive a culture of continuous improvement
* Chair the Digital steering group driving decision making and stakeholder alignment
* Digital resource management/allocation in support of business priorities/prioritisation
* Supplier management
* Manages/maintains budget to spend
* Act as the digital champion (evangelist) - identifying, communicating and promoting digital opportunities across the business
* Lead the education of digital within the business to ensure optimal utilisation

Your experience

* Ideally educated to post-grad level (or comparable level of experience and professional qualifications) in a related field
* Have a proven track record of success in a similar role
* Credible business leader and strong collaborator
* Be capable of inspiring and leading teams to deliver exceptional customer service
* Strong background in digital technology with significant experience in successfully leading cross functional teams, including:

1 Good knowledge of web/mobile development practices, deployment and maintenance
2 A demonstrable understanding of integration technologies (API’s)
3 Integration of web analytics into transactional and customer journeys

* Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing successful digital strategies which have leveraged improved business performance
* Ability to convert strategies into executable plans with clear milestones and inter dependencies ensuring business imperatives are met
* Have a good understanding of the purpose and value provided by different functions including product ownership, project management, UX design, development, business analysis, enterprise architecture, change management and data analysis
* Have the strength of character to challenge when necessary
* Good knowledge of SEO, analytics, A/B testing and optimisation
* Experience managing budgets and delivering against KPIs and targets
* Excellent stakeholder management skills with demonstrable experience of managing senior level relationships (Group Executive / Senior Managers)
* Strong Supplier Management skills, demonstrating commercial awareness and previous experience of building effective working relationships with external suppliers
* Proactive in researching new ideas and trends
