Job Description and Skills
Experienced Project Manager required providing leadership and management of the Communications IPT (Integrated Project Team), within the Communication, Navigation and Identification Business Area in Surveillance and Protection Technologies Sector. The Project Manager will be responsible for applying effective people management and problem solving skills to develop, enhance and deliver against multiple project activities of varying complexity on projects which are critical to the performance and growth of the Business Area.

Key Responsibility Areas
Reporting to Head of CNI, key responsibilities include:
Develop and lead the Communications IPT as an organisation focused on high performance to successfully deliver the IPTs business targets as defined in the IBBP and SOMs and to achieve of all contractual requirements.
To time, cost and quality, ensure and demonstrate delivery and margin for all projects, and manage to achieve / better the financial targets.
Ensure adherence to Lifecycle Management (LCM), as appropriate and tailored to suit
Manage the ongoing development and/or improvement of relationships with customers and suppliers for current and future projects to establish / maintain as a supplier / partner of choice, built on the principals of trust, collaboration and mutual respect.
Presentation at Sector and Line of Business project reviews to present summary programme status
Support the development of functional members of the IPT (engineering, sales, planning etc.) and work with functional management leads to meet current and future skills requirements including succession planning
Develop and maintain communication and collaboration across (Division, Line of Business and Sector) to ensure a coordinated approach to the shared customer base and opportunities consistent with our values.
Anticipate, mitigate and manage dependencies, risks and synergies in support of increased business performance.
Champion business winning activities within the IPT to achieve or exceed business targets. Maximise follow on sales, and support the development of business growth of the IPT and Business Area.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
Proven experience as a Project Manager or other managerial position
Experience of remotely managing of multi-disciplined teams to deliver multi million pound development and production projects, with a focus on achieving high performance against objectives
Detailed understanding of PPRP and financial controls.
Demonstrated ability to influence both internally and externally at all levels, including senior management.
Good computer literacy, including all Microsoft Office applications and SAP functions related to Project execution, cost control and planning.
Working knowledge of policies & practices in particular related to Life Cycle Management, Risk Management and Project Execution.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally
Ability to proactivity manage poor performance and conflict resolution to mitigate detrimental impact to the customer, IPT and project objectives
Able to provide effective delegation, management and coordination of tasks and activities to achieve the objectives of the IPT including setting clear objectives / expectations on output with assigned budget and timescales
Able to work autonomously
Pro-active with a "can do" attitude striving for continuous improvement, effectiveness and efficiency
Flexible and adaptable to change and adversity with the ability to manage the IPTs motivation and enthusiasm throughout.
Excellent problem solving skills and initiative with the ability to think laterally
Working knowledge of Engineering, Commercial and Procurement aspects of project execution.
Typically degree qualified or equivalent.
APMP or PRINCE-2 Certified

Intrinsic Factors

Full time role with some out of hours and extended working hours anticipated as required
This is an office-based role using display screen equipment
Weekly travel between UK sites (Luton, Southampton and Bristol) will be required due to the cross site nature of the IPT and the sector
