Mechanical Design Engineering Team Leader

The ONE Group have a fantastic opportunity, to join a global leading automation business as a Mechanical Design Engineering Team Leader. Based on the outskirts of Manchester, our client focuses on the design, development and manufacture of cutting edge automated inspection-based capital machinery.
This role will oversee a design team & concentrate heavily on the co-ordination of engineering teams, focusing on customer projects & products. Tasked with pro-active delivery of design solutions, quality improvements & cost reductions, you will plan and organise the team’s workload accordingly.

Key Duties

• Plan & organise workload to ensure deliver against project schedule
• Improve “right first time” for projects
• Ensure project budgets are worked against
• Work closely with Technical Managers on high-quality material handling solutions
• Contribute to NPD design, exploring new design techniques and manufacturing processes
• Carry out risk assessments
• Ensure all designs meet regulatory compliance requirements (CE/Machinery/LV)
• Preparation of technical quotations/estimates
• Develop and amend engineering drawings (2D/3D)
• Effective problem resolution with all departments

The Ideal Candidate

• Degree level educated within a Mechanical discipline
• Design experience within low to medium volume production
• Design change management knowledge
• Competent with Autodesk INVENTOR
• Proven experience delivering projects to set specification
• Engineering compliance knowledge, machinery directive and low voltage
