Castles Education are assisting a fantastic school in Lewisham with the recruitment of a specialist teacher to start with the school after the Easter break.

This post is a for an experienced ASD teacher for a year 7 class, working three days a week (Monday to Wednesday) for the rest of the academic year. This may go into a permanent post for September 2018. The class consists of 8 students all on the autistic spectrum, some children are also nonverbal so knowing Makaton or PECS would be an advantage. You will be supported by 3 full time teaching assistants as well as an amazing management team, who are all dedicated and focused on the best education for every student.

Pay for this role while on supply would depend on experience and ranges from £120 - £145 per day.

To be considered for these positions you will need the following:

• Must be either a fully qualified teacher with QTS or an NQT with relevant teaching experience, You will need to have at least one years’ experience of teaching students who are on the Autistic Spectrum. If you are an NQT you will need to have had placements within a SEND environment.
• Have a proven record of improving teaching outcomes for ASD children.
• Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be prepared to carry out a new DBS.
• Be able to commit to teaching three days a week from after Easter and travel to Lewisham.
• Have a calm manor with a good sense of humour.

Training in PECS, Makaton, and Team Teach would be all be very desirable.

You will also need to attend a face to face registration with one of our candidate consultants prior to interview or trail day at the school. Trial and interviews are taking place within the school prior to the Easter break with a handover of the class to prepare.
