Our client is a specialist-led, unified communications agency delivering connected healthcare communications, informed through fresh insights, smart thinking and inspired ideas. Continued growth leads them to seek a Copy Lead or Senior Medical Copywriter to join their award winning team in their Surrey office.

The purpose of the role is to generate ideas and write creative and medical copy for a range of promotional materials (including sales aids, press ads, direct mail, brochures, leaflets, emails, websites and a variety of digital applications) to an exceptionally high creative standard, using your medical knowledge and understanding to transform the science into clear, meaningful messaging.

You will be working with Global and International pharmaceutical clients, on a wide variety of projects, from concepting and strategic messaging through to multi-channel promotional material production. There is potential for this position to mature into a team management role as well as providing strategic oversight on assigned accounts.


- Develop concepts in conjunction with design partners (designers, creative directors, interactive designers)
- Research, write and edit copy across a range of products, brands and subjects for medical clients within agreed timescales
- To be able to clearly articulate and present ideas/concepts through the spoken and/or written word, and influence or persuade others of the creative merits of the concepts
- Listen well and be able to write clearly in a variety of communication settings and styles
- Contribute to brainstorming and idea generation based on understanding of the brief and the client's strategic and marketing objectives
- Liaise with internal Account Management to ensure product/brand integrity
- Present to clients - internally and externally
- Become familiar with client products, therapy areas, portfolio and commercial strategy
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, providing information for pitches and additional business opportunities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Degree level-educated, preferably with a science PhD, with good knowledge and experience of advertising and communications
- First class medical copywriting skills and experience gained within an agency environment
- Ability to write confidently from original research papers and create accurate copy and tables as required.
- Knowledge of accurate medical marginal sourcing procedures and good understanding of ABPI and EFPIA codes of practice on written/web-based materials
- Must have experience of writing for print and digital media
- Conceptual but also excellent long copy skills an absolute must
- Familiarity with the creative and production process
- An ability to work within the client's style/corporate branding
- Conveys information and ideas concisely and accurately, orally and in writing
- Strong organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and to balance multiple priorities and demands
- Team player; willing to share information and ideas
