Product Development Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a major UK based manufacturing business in a senior and strategically vital role. Own the development of new products and work with customers to deliver bespoke designs utilising versatile materials.
Michael Page are working exclusively with a UK based Manufacturer headquartered within South Yorkshire. Operating out of advanced manufacturing facilities this business has developed an outstanding reputation for quality, timely delivery and bespoke product solutions.
In recent years they have adopted a customer first approach which has required them to respond to their clients requests with innovative product designs and production methods. As such their R&D department has taken significant importance in the business and they are now looking for a talented leader to the head the department.
You will report directly to the General Manager of the plastics division supporting the development and introduction to manufacturing of new products and materials to increase the businesses market share.
Some of your core responsibilities as the Product Development Manager will be:
-Leading the delivery of new products through the conceptualisation, design and manufacturing approval process.
-Develop your team of R&D engineers through the delivery of training and sponsorship through the various accreditation bodies
-Lead material and product tests, engaging third party test providers and engineering consultancies where appropriate
-Drive the validation and quality approval methodology utilising techniques such as PPAP and APQP to confirm smooth NPI processes
-Constantly striving to develop your knowledge and network within the plastic processing and development industry
You will be a senior operator and comfortable communicating technical information across all levels of business. You will be experienced in the product development life cycle and have strong project management skills.
As the Product Development Manager you will:
-Be degree qualified in a relevant technical field, (i.e. product development, mechanical engineering or materials engineering)
-Be comfortable leading teams of technical individuals through extensive projects
-Have a proven track record in product development, preferably developing plastic products for demanding markets
-Be an adaptable manager who is comfortable operating outside of your direct sphere of influence.
