What is the purpose of this role?

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the 'Trade Effluent Team' on to deliver accurate customer accounts and bills in line with our regulatory targets and requirements. The role will be based at the Beckton Sewage Treatment Works in Barking, Essex.

The Trade Effluent Team is part of Wholesale Wastewater which provides a company-wide focus for the issue of legal documentation to industry who discharge their Effluent into the foul sewerage system. The team work closely with Retailers providing the relevant income data to allow them to bill the customer to recover its costs.

As the successful candidate, you will assist with the creation and amendment of the bills ensuring that accurate invoices can be raised. You will deal with customer enquiries providing front line customer service from telephone calls, contacts and letters.

You will also provide general support such as data entry, administration and filing.

What makes this role unique?

This is a small, but high profile team responsible for approximately £17m of corporate income. The role deals with various types of accounts and methodologies keeping this role both interesting and varied with new complexities and solutions being identified and implement almost daily. You will build working relationships with both Retailer and industrial customers to achieve defined targets.

What does this role involve?

This role will involve:

The delivery of excellent customer service dealing with customer telephone calls or written enquiries. There will be some administration work such as electronic data entry and record keeping.

The production of customer accounts and transactions for the Open Water Market, this will also involve the making amendments and corrections to customer accounts, data cleansing activities and where necessary the completion of customer billing assessments.

What skills are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with similar billing experience or a background in dealing with invoices and customer accounts or any relevant work experience.

You will need to have a good standard of general education with excellent mathematical and customer skills whilst being self-motivated.

You will also need excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong customer focus. Working with Excel spreadsheets would be an advantage.

Training will be provided.

External Salary Information

Depending on skills and ability we are offering an hourly rate of £8 to £10 per hour for a 36 hour per week.
