Our Client are a company involved in the Design & Manufacture of special purpose automated machinery. They have a presence in several countries worldwide, and have a fantastic reputation within the industry as being a leader within their field.
The job holder will assist in initial design and the modification of designs once systems are in the build phase in the workshop.
The job holder will assist in the in-house test of systems and will troubleshoot problems as and when they occur. This will involve the reviewing of electrical and mechanical designs and the hands-on checking of mechanical and electrical systems including control panels.
The job holder will accompany systems to site and be actively involved in the installation and commissioning of systems. This will involve the testing of electrical, mechanical and software systems.
The job holder acts as a representative of the company in all situations e.g. when dealing with clients and staff, and is expected to conduct him/herself professionally and lead by example.
The job holder will use their experience in deciding when additional assistance is required, e.g. when the assistance of a dedicated software engineer is required to overcome a specific fault.
The job holder will communicate internally with staff at all levels, particularly Project Managers, on occasion directly to electrical/mechanical/software engineers associated with a specific project.
Much of the communication required is face-to-face with clients, consequently the job holder must be able to deal with people and situations in a tactful, diplomatic and confidential manner.
Ideally qualified to a minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant subject, e.g. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
The job holder will need a minimum of three years experience working on the commissioning and/or technical support of electro-mechanical systems (motion controllers, servo drives, stepper motors, Safety Systems, PLCs, digital and analogue sensors, barcode readers etc.)
The job holder will need a working knowledge of low level software programming and a working knowledge of software testing.
Undertake problem solving and troubleshooting skills as part of normal commissioning duties
Provide technical support both internally and directly with customers to resolve issues.
Experience gained in an electrical design environment would be an advantage.
The role will suit someone who has very good experience with Servo Drives and Motion Controllers, and have recent "hands on" Commissioning experience. There may be an element of Customer interaction, so you would need to be comfortable speaking to Clients at site. This role combines working onsite as well as overseas travel. You will be usually working on a commissioning project for around 3-4 weeks. You will be travelling to countries such as; North America, Scandinavia, China and Japan.
