Please be aware NRL are currently recruiting on behalf of one of our clients for 5 Seasonal Ecologists of various levels from mid-March until the end of September based from their Leeds office.

They are a leading service provider in planning and environmental consultancy and advice, supporting projects at all stages from initial conception through to construction and maintenance, across the UK and internationally.

Their Sustainable Strategies and Solutions business provides a focus for advising their clients on sustainability issues including renewable energy, low carbon economies, impacts of climate change and waste and resource management. Their environmental capabilities comprise of in excess of 1000 staff based predominantly in the UK, but with reach into the Middle East and in India.

Our clients’ ecology team is one of the UKs largest most dynamic and respected ecology teams. Their Ecologists provide specialist advice for the full range of projects, as well as servicing the needs of their own client base. Their team works on a range of diverse, high profile projects in the UK, Europe and the Middle East

Our client employ a number of field biologists and ecologists to assist with (and undertake) data collection and monitoring commitments on projects. Our client is looking for Seasonal Ecologists across various locations including, Edinburgh, Reading, Cardiff, Croydon, Bristol, Exeter, Glasgow, Southampton, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. Should you be aware of any Ecologists at the locations mentioned, feel free to bring this to their attention.

About the role:

Supporting the national team of ecologists working on a variety of projects

Survey support and logistic planning

Ecological surveying and biological data collection

Producing quality assured ecology deliverables

Report Writing

Locations may require over-night stays away from home (all of which would of course be reimbursable by the client).

Please note successful candidates will spend limited time in the office

Hours - Variable and depend entirely on the amount of field work available during the season. It is important to note that some working hours may be unsociable (e.g. night time bat surveys).

What you will need:


Own transport required due to necessity to visit sites

Ecology survey experience and a good field scientist

Eligible for CIEEM membership

Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice

You must be a good team player with a willingness to work away from your base office.


An honours degree in ecology or related field

Relevant undergraduate work placements or post graduate studies


If more experienced candidates with protected species licences and consultancy experience are welcome to apply. The offered hourly rate would be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
