A great position has opened for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join one of the leading Healthcare Hospitals located in Hertfordshire.
The Hospital provides intensive support to children and adolescents with high dependency care needs.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist your duties will be as follows:

• Provide consultant psychiatrist care, assessment and treatment to children and adolescents and support to their families.
• Supervise the provision of therapies within the unit and lead the development of clinical practise within the service.
• Work with the Hospital Director and senior management team to ensure effective clinical leadership of the inpatient service.
• Participate in the strategic planning and development of the service.
• Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
• Conduct admission assessment and ensuring effective management plans of all patients on the unit
• Conduct risk assessment and review regularly
• Allocate specialist psychological treatments in line with individual need
• Assess physical health – taking special responsibility for medical issues/medically
• Supervise and direct the work of other staff that treat the patients.
• Ensure effective liaison with referring teams.
• Facilitate regular CPA review meetings.
• Work within policies and guidance of Elysium Healthcare to ensure standards are maintained.
• Act as Responsible Medical Officer for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
• Provide on-call service and ensure the provision of medical cover to the unit at all times.
• Ensure the effective supervision of all therapy staff and junior medical staff (may be required).
• Provide both formal and informal training to develop the clinical team as required.
• Facilitate research and audit within the service
• Develop protocols as required to meet standard in both psychological and pharmacological interventions.

You will need the following qualifications and skills to be considered:

• Qualifications/training in specific treatment modalities
• Experience of working within a Tier 4 CAMHS Eating disorder Service
• Up-to-date knowledge in the field of Eating Disorder
• To be approved under section 12(2) of the MHA 1983
• Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
• A high level of clinical skill
• Excellent spoken and written communication
• An established record of clinical leadership
• An established ability as clinical teacher
• An established ability in research and/or audit
