The opportunity:

We have a great opportunity for a Delivery Underwriter to join our team based in Fareham. As a Delivery Underwriter you will provide technical underwriting expertise and guidance to Business Units and Underwriters under general direction, to enable achievement of business plan and the delivery of excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1) To provide support to the delivery team for the management, co-ordination and make recommendations regarding:
· the implementation of underwriting strategies (e.g. pricing) and solutions (e.g. product development, underwriting tools and processes).
· assisting in the management of the process(es) needed to ensure timely delivery of rate/rating/underwriting changes through all distribution channels.
· delivery of technical documentation, including policy wordings, guidance notes, schedules, endorsements, etc., in liaison with other key internal functions.
· delivery of technical content within all other UKGI Retail documentation (e.g. marketing literature).
· development of own knowledge in product line and industry.
· provision of technical expertise for short-term, defined scope projects.

2) Manage a team ("Technical Referral Team") of Technical Underwriters to administer underwriting referrals in accordance with agreed service standards and underwriting authorities by:
· ensuring the Technical Referral Team achieve targets and operational goals through effective performance management.
· motivating, coaching and developing individuals to maximise their potential.
· handling queries within delegated authority.
· anticipating, recognising and responding to the needs of customers and supporting the implementation of customer initiatives.

3) Acting as customer champion for PL underwriting by:
· developing customer feedback loop processes and procedures.
· acting as liaison point for all customer feedback and ensure relevant information is provided all areas as required.

Your skills and experience:

· Experience in a similar underwriting role, or a combination of underwriting and development roles.
· Experience of personal lines insurers and insurance and understanding of the market
· Progression in CII examinations
· Knowledge and experience of underwriting principles, control frameworks and the current and proposed legal and regulatory requirements relevant to personal lines
· Awareness of the financial dynamics of a personal lines portfolio (i.e. expense allocation, return on capital requirements and the like)
· Proactive and able to manage a varied workload
