Our client a highly regarded law firm , who prides themselves on providing excellent customer service are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial property/ Agriculture solicitor/legal executive to join their commercial property team.

The Role

  • Manage a Case Load - initially under the supervision of Partner

  • Conduct meetings and interviews with clients

  • Assess legal issues and advise accordingly

  • Advise on costs (including the preparation of Letters of Engagement)

  • Conduct legal research

  • Draft documents and letters, and prepare and submit searches

  • Meet deadlines (utilisation of electronic diary system)

  • Complete time sheets

  • Maintain files

  • Deal with financial aspects

  • Adhere to the Firm’s administrative system and procedures

  • Participate in team meetings

  • Attend internal and external courses as required

  • Keep up to date with law and practice

  • If required, assist Partners within the agriculture and estates team based in other offices

  • To fulfil budgeted level of matter time and fees

  • To assist in the development of long term client relationships

  • To maintain effective file management (in order to meet the firm’s, money laundering and SRA requirements)

  • Attend business development activities on behalf of the agriculture and estates team (as required), on behalf of the firm

  • To promote the firm with all external clients

  • To ensure all files are opened in the correct manner and take responsibility for ensuring all regulatory obligations are completed, included but not limited to, AML and due diligence requirements

  • To be Aware of AML and report to the risk department any concerns

  • To complete the annual risk refresher training.

  • To take an active interest in the Firms staff intranet, Jostle

The candidate

  • Ideally you will be a solicitor / Legal executive 2 years plus PQE in commercial property/ Agriculture and Estates
  • Have knowledge of registered and unregistered land law, public rights of way and legal principles relevant to the work conducted by the agriculture and estates team
  • Have the ability to carry out legal research
  • Good planning and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Possess good drafting skills
  • Solid negotiation experience
  • Strong time -recording skills
  • Good business development skills
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Willingness to take part in and initiate networking, selling and marketing events
