Financial Controller (Legal Services/Insurance) - Manchester

£65 to £80k + bonus + benefits

My client is one of the UK's leading providers of legal and handling services to the general insurance sector and they are looking for a highly organised and friendly Financial Controller.
The firm currently provides legal services to 12 of the UK's 20 largest motor insurers in specialist areas such as counter fraud, large & complex injury, motor and casualty services, recoveries, costs and credit hire. As a result of continued organic growth, the firm is recognised as one of the UK's fastest growing law firms with six offices, 34 partners and 720 employees, receiving in excess of 65,000 instructions per annum.

Purpose of the Job

To support the Director of Finance in managing the Financial Administration of the firm.
Main Responsibilities
Management of the Operational Finance Team including Cashiers (Data Input), Credit Control and Payroll
Provision of technical financial advice to operational departments with particular reference to the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and VAT.
Preparation of Financial Accounts including the preparation of all journals and control account reconciliations
Reviewing and assessing internal financial procedures/controls to ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal guidelines
VAT Returns and Liaison with HMRC
Liaison with the Firm's bankers
Liaison with Auditors
Liaison with Clients and Suppliers
Preparation of Financial Performance Information for presentation to the Board and other key stakeholders
And such ad hoc reports/duties as may be required from time to time.
Cash flow forecasting
Budget and reforecasting process, production and modelling
Partnership matters
Financial policy

Person Specification

Legal Practice Finance
Proven Management, Leadership and Mentoring Experience
Stakeholder Management
Good communicator and strong inter-personal skills
Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word etc.
Excellent attention to detail
