Job Description: Senior IT Engineer

Responsible To: Operations Director or other Senior Manager as designated by the company

Short Description: The IT Engineer is responsible for maintaining and developing the on-site IT infrastructure, whilst assisting in the resolution of user related issues escalated from the help desk.

Summary of Benefits: Annual salary up to £35k depending on experience

Annual leave 28 days per annum, incl. public holidays

40 hour week

Monday to Friday, day working

Specific Duties:

The role will be specifically responsible for:

1 Evaluating user needs and system functionality and ensuring that ICT facilities meet these needs;
2 Planning, developing and implementing the ICT budget, obtaining competitive prices from suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness;
3 Scheduling updates, upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems;
4 Researching and installing new systems to support the Company strategy;
5 Guaranteeing the smooth running of all ICT systems, including core applications, anti-virus software, print services, email provision and ICT network infrastructure;
6 Ensuring that software licensing laws are adhered to;
7 Providing secure access to the network for remote users;
8 Securing data from internal and external attack;
9 Offering users appropriate support and advice;
10 Managing crisis and disaster situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems;
11 Mentoring and training new ICT support staff;
12 Keeping up to date with the latest technologies.

Generic Duties:

In addition to specific responsibilities, the IT Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring:

- The maintenance of confidentiality of all information unless otherwise permitted by management.

- Full compliance with company's vision, values, policies and procedures.

- Compliance with legislation and GSCC Code of Conduct as reflected in company procedures.

- Undergo training and professional development as directed by the company.

- Work in a manner that promotes team work and a collegial environment.

- Active and positive promotion of the company's image and brand.

- Other duties that may be assigned by management.

Qualifications: The following qualification, skills and experience are requirements for this role:

1 You must have previous experience in a similar role.
2 It is ESSENTIAL you have knowledge of Hyper-V, Windows Server 2008 R2 & 2012 R2, DNS, DHCP, File Server, FSMO roles, Windows 10 imaging, HP ProLiant Servers, Office 2013, Active Directory and Group Policy Management, Terminal Services/TS Plus, Networking, Firewall, Mdaemon messaging system or exchange. Be analytical, methodological and possess systematic approach in working and troubleshooting.
3 Desirable knowledge of Ubuntu Server and WatchGuard Security Appliance, MDM, Backup and Restore technologies, VPN, Database management, Data Storage Management and scripting.
4 Advantage to have certifications like MCSE/MTA/MCP/CCNA
5 Strong English spoken, listening, writing, communication and presentation skills.
6 Strong administration skills and the ability to manage a small team.
