To play a key senior role in managing Real Estate Finance risk whilst supporting the Banks growth aspirations in a measured and safe way, managing the REF second line of defense team ensuring the assessment and decisioning of Real Estate Finance lending transactions in both Development and Investment sub sectors fall within Credit Risk Appetite whilst also ensuring Operational Risks are properly managed and controlled.
ØWork together with the Managing Director of REF to support, in a measured way, the growth aspirations of the REF book whilst maintaining a zero tolerance for provision.
ØLead a team of Credit Managers to provide the highest level of risk assessment and control whilst maintaining a can do supportive attitude.
ØSupply guidance and support to 15 fee earners (and growing) on new lending requests from the Relationship Team, being creative with a proven ability to think outside of the box and restructure transactions as necessary, feeding back to the RD’s as appropriate and seeking clean Credit Committee sign off.
ØSupport Senior Management with changes to Risk Structures and Governance, recommending changes to facilitate joined up working practices.
ØParticipate in monitoring and control of SME Platforms, Risk Structure and Governance.
ØProvide guidance, opinion and input for new products, acquisitions and new ventures ensuring all are carried out in a compliant way and at satisfactory risk levels.
ØOversee the Operational Risk function for REF ensuring that the Bank’s delivery is compliant to regulations, whilst supporting safe business growth.
ØAssist the Chief Risk Officer in ad hoc projects as directed.
ØProduce accurate Management Information/Sector Information in line with RiskCo/Exco expectations by keeping records up to date.
ØEnsure the Bank is kept abreast of regulatory changes impacting on the business ensuring that the bank is well placed to make and meet these changes, considering any impact on a short/medium and long term basis.
ØEnsure that procedures are followed to attain a clean internal and external audit review at satisfactory or above.
ØEngender and Live a “one team” approach across Real Estate Finance.
ØAbility to work accurately and at pace in a Challenger bank environment.
ØA significant depth of Real Estate experience in a Risk Environment
ØStrong proven technical awareness of all Real Estate products
ØDetailed knowledge of the UK Real Estate market
ØDetailed knowledge of PD and LGD modelling for SME portfolios
ØEducated to degree level or able to demonstrate suitable level of experience
