Cloud Platform Engineer - sought by genuine market leader at their offices in Manchester. Please note that travel to client sites and other organisation offices will be associated with this role.


As a Cloud Platform Engineer you will primarily be working within a project team with the following responsibilities:

·Project Delivery: the day-to-day responsibility for technical aspects of a project.

·Managing, supporting, maintaining and improving the project’s infrastructure, automation, continuous integration system and application release process.

·Acting as a bridge between operations and development teams.


My client requires a minimum 5 years’ experience in a delivery focussed environment and able to demonstrate:

·Strong commercial experience of managing complex multi-tier enterprise infrastructure environments.

·In-depth knowledge of Microsoft .NET technologies, Windows O/S and Microsoft backoffice system administration.

·In-depth configuration management, automation and scripting skills including use of Powershell DSC and scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.

·In-depth knowledge of Windows platform and application automated deployment technologies (e.g. Octopus, Puppet, SCCM, Chef, Tivoli Provisioning Manager, WinAutomation)

·Exposure to iterative/agile development methodologies (SCRUM, XP, DSDM, RUP etc.)

·Good experience of working within a DevOps practice.

·Exposure to continuous integration and build tools.

·Use of source code version control.

·Understanding of software and infrastructure architecture

·Good database knowledge and SQL skills (on an enterprise database such as Oracle or SQLServer).

·In depth knowledge of virtualisation platforms and cloud orchestration technologies such as AWS, Azure, Google, VSphere, vDirector, Xenserver, Xen, Cloudstack and Openstack


In addition to the essential skills listed above, experience of one or more of the following competencies are desirable:

·Configuration of firewalls, load balancers and other network equipment.

·Software development experience.

·Excellent Linux/Unix system administration skills.

·Experience of application servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic or JBOSS.

·Exposure or knowledge of web security, e.g. OWASP.

·Exposure to ITIL.
