Product Design Engineer
My Client is a large medical device company based in Cardiff going through a period of growth, we are recruiting a Product Design Engineer to join their Team .
Reporting directly to the Head of Development, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and provide key support by providing Design expertise for the development of new medical devices.
The Role•Contribute to the development of new devices, from early stage concepts to ready for clinical trial product, in line with the client’s development strategy, Quality system and Development Process.•Contribute as a leading team member to allocated work-streams within development projects, to meet project targets and ensure end product meets end user and market needs.•Provide input to technical reports and design documentation for internal and external users to review ensuring that the content is accurate and informed. •Adopt a continuous improvement approach by proactively seeking out development opportunities by learning and attending training courses to ensure that the department has the right skills to deliver business needs.•Provide Design Methodology input to activities and business decision making within speciality area.•Demonstrate creative thinking and help lead the company’s thinking in this area.•Generating design concepts as possible solutions to identified market or user needs.•Detailed design work taking ideas through to launched products.•Managing Risks presented at all phases of the Product Development cycle•Managing all documentation relating to product development activities.
The Person•Educated to Degree level in an Engineering related discipline - ideally with a Specialism in design.•Expert in the use of 3D parametric CAD system such as SolidWorks•Expert in the use of 2D Design systems.•At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Design role•Able to demonstrate a flair for design and creativity•Present a portfolio of launched products in which they have had significant input and responsibility
