Job Title: Assistant Group Financial Accountant

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum dependant on experience

Location: East London

Hours: 35 hours per week (09:30 to 17:30) although flexibility in working hours is a requirement of the role and additional hours may occasionally be necessary to meet the demands of the business.

Your New Job:

This is an exciting role within the Accounts Department of a top 50 International Law firm. This role is responsible for providing support to the Group Financial Accountant and to be responsible for maintaining partner balances and preparing of the firm’s partner schedules across the UK & International offices. The individual will report into and work closely with the firm’s Group Financial Accountant and other senior members in the finance team.

Your key responsibilities are:

Partner Accounting Responsibilities

    Ensuring all payments are made to partners, and former partners, as scheduled and posted correctly into the accounting system.Maintaining schedules that calculate balances for all partners across all offices e.g. capital, profit distributions, drawings and other payment modelsPreparation & distribution of annual Statements of Account to partners, globally. Reconciliation of partner balances between Statements and the General LedgerPreparation of year end journals for profit allocation, tax and capital.Assist with the preparation of illustrative cash flow statements for new partners, lateral hire partners and retiring partners.Maintain Financed Capital schedule and liaise with bank on application status including liaison with partners.Assist GFA with preparing Members Interest schedule for our clients International, UK, Germany & Middle East LLP’s.Assist Group Financial Accountant & Group Financial Controller with any special projects.Other ad hoc duties as required.
Group Accounting tasks

    Providing accounting support to the Group Financial Accountant as requiredPreparation of consolidation journalsReviewing bank reconciliations, fixed asset schedules and balance sheet reconciliations submitted by offices and flagging discrepanciesPreparation of supporting schedules to the Financial Statements i.e. Consolidated Fixed assets, Lease schedules etc.Assist in the review of quarterly balance sheet packs submitted by offices and follow upReview intercompany balances to ensure they agree on consolidation and follow up on any discrepanciesPreparing reconciliations as requiredProviding assistance on the preparation of annual tax computations for the UK entitiesProvide support during the annual Financial & SAR audit and preparing audit filesProvide support to International Offices as required
What You’ll Need to Succeed:

    High degree of professionalism, accuracy in work, and attention to detail.Strong influencing and communication (both verbal and written) skills.Effective presentation skills and a strong ability to work effectively under pressure.Minimum part qualified (ACA/ACCA) with ideally at least two years relevant experience of working as an accountant.Strong bookkeeping skills (Credits, debits, etc.)Experience of working in a professional services firm (Partnership or LLP) ideal.Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
