GRAPHIC AND WEB DESIGNER (flexible hours however must be 5 days per week 30 -40 hours per week Monday – Friday)

PERMANENT ROLE - £20,000 – £25,000 d.o.e

An amazing opportunity has arisen for the role of Graphic and Web Designer at our Client’s small but forward thinking business in the heart of the Gloucestershire Community.This is a small yet growing business who are looking for an upbeat, creative individual with a can do attitude to join them, in this exciting creative role.Candidates must have extensive use of WordPress in order to be considered for this role

The purpose of the role will be to maximise profitability and customer satisfaction by meeting customers’ design and artwork requirements by producing quality work efficiently, cost effectively and within customers deadline.The successful candidate must have their own transport and be a driver due to you attending Client meetings

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • ·Plan and produce design, artwork to meet both the requirements of the customer within the agreed deadlines.
  • ·Actively go out and engage with Clients at their premises (predominantly Gloucestershire based) to meet clients to identify their needs, discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job and liaise regularly with them to finalise project within timeframe.
  • ·Develop design briefs for the Client for web/digital and/or print.
  • ·Draw up detailed website specifications.
  • ·Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and develop interactive design.
  • ·Design sample web page layouts including text size and colours.
  • ·Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time.
  • ·Design graphics and manipulate digital photographs.
  • ·Register web domain names and organise the hosting of the website.
  • ·Present finalised ideas and concepts to clients and/or account managers.
  • ·Estimate the time required to complete the work and providing timeframes to sales quotes for clients.
  • ·Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches and work on layouts ready for print;
  • ·Ensure search engine optimisation on all websites
  • ·Meet relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy.
  • ·Design the website visual imagery and ensure it's in line with company branding policy or the requirements of the client.
  • ·Proofread to produce accurate and high-quality work for print or web, making changes where necessary.
  • ·Edit content, debugging code and re-designing web pages. Test website to ensure it is working.
  • ·Hand over completed website to the client and provide post-sales technical website support.
    Configure and output supplied digital files accurately and within agreed deadlines.Ensure an even flow of artwork to proofing and production.Pre-flight check supplied digital files before output.Check artwork prior to customer proofing.Ensure amendments and additions to artwork are correctly and swiftly actioned.Ensure that final artwork is within the production capabilities or to outside suppliers’ specification.Carry out regular back-up of artwork files and follow internal filing system process.Liaise with customers in person and by other methods of communication.Constantly review workflow procedures and provide advice on improvements where necessary.Maintain and keep up-to-date relevant design and origination equipment.
  • ·Train client's staff and colleagues to help develop others
  • ·Research current design trends, continue professional development to keep up to date with new software developments.
  • ·Working as part of a team with other departments, liaise with and accurately brief suppliers, as well as copywriters, photographers, illustrators, other designers, web developers and marketing specialists. Commissioning illustrators and photographers where needed.
  • Liaise with production staff to ensure seamless computer-to-plate operations.
  • Take responsibility for following up proofs.
