.NET Developer - Gloucester

Salary up to £40,000 DOE

The Systems Development team is a core part of IT within the Business Solutions department, central to delivering the company’s IT strategy and business vision. We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic developer to join our forward-thinking .NET development team. Our client is responsible for the company Intranet, the Extranet (actually two of them, B2B & B2C), 7 public websites, and the CRM and BPM systems.

We need a .NET Developer to join the team at an exciting time to help deliver challenging business priorities by supporting and developing a variety of Microsoft-based systems.

Within the wider Systems Development team, there are a range of other disciplines such as Java (online-selling) and those that support and develop our General Insurance System (IBM System I / RPG). You will work with these teams, others within Business Solutions (analysts, infrastructure technicians, testers, and support and ops staff) and with members of other departments in the organisation: marketing, claims, underwriting, the whole business.

The company are upgrading their major development platforms – Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, SDL Tridion, and Kofax TotalAgility – to the latest versions and using them to develop business critical solutions. Not forgetting the smaller (but important) things, we use a range of server- and client-side technologies such as Entity Framework, Enterprise Library, ASP.NET, Web API, WCF/WF, MEF/Unity, TypeScript, SignalR, and Bootstrap.

You will have the benefit of using the latest hardware, and receiving MSDN and Pluralsight subscriptions to support your ongoing professional development.

It's not all about the technology (though they do enjoy it) - it is all about the customer and collaborating with co-workers to deliver something of enduring and sustainable value.

We'd like you to help our client to do that.

Key responsibilities:

The job is a mix of business-as-usual and project work, with an ever-changing balance between the two. It involves configuration, customisation, and programming, and it requires a lot of interaction with the IT teams and the business. You will have the opportunity to learn, receive training and develop existing skills across a range of systems (ECM, CRM, BPM, WCM) within a complex and dynamic architecture.

There are a number of upgrade projects on the go right now that need to be live by the end of 2017, and you will play a key role in helping us to achieve this.

Essential skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of C#, the .NET Framework, and Visual Studio 2015/2017
  • The ability to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances, pay attention to detail and, above all, be versatile

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with any of our enterprise development platforms (e.g. SharePoint)
  • Experience with unit testing, QA practices (using ReSharper), and source control (using TFS)
